TERRY & JACK PEYTON- Owners, Instructors, Choreographers
Terry and Jack Peyton are natives of Alexandria, Virginia. They started Terry’s School of Dance and Gymnastics in 1974. Jack coached gymnastics for 30 years and judged many regional and national competitions. His students won district, regional, and national honors consistently. Terry began dancing as a tot and eventually earned a spot as a member of the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes. Her talents took her to Broadway where she appeared in musicals including West Side Story. Terry’s credits include choreographing commercials and musicals. She has judged regional and national talent competitions, beauty pageants and auditions for the Redskinettes and many other football team cheerleading clubs. Locally, she has coached and choreographed routines for Northern
Fairfax
County
High School dance teams, cheerleaders, flag teams and marching bands. Terry has coached Northern
Fairfax
County
High School football teams and has worked with their summer camp programs to condition the players. She is a certified gymnastics instructor by the United States Gymnastics Safety Association. Terry consistently receives top honors at regional and national competitions, including Top Teacher, Top Choreographer, Star Studio and Most Outstanding Overall.
SHALET PEYTON – Teacher / Choreographer / Hip Hop Specialist
Shalet Peyton is the youngest daughter of Terry and Jack and has danced her entire life. Shalet’s talents have taken her to Los Angeles, California, where she was a model and performed in commercials, videos, and became a member of a an all-girl singing group called Nothing But the Truth who opened for Regina Bell. She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19 and received a full scholarship to Tremaine’s
Dance
Center. She trained with Margarite Derricks (choreographer for the Austin Powers movie), Wade Robson (choreographer for Britney Spears and N-Sync), and Carla and Melissa (choreographers for Prince). She continued to work with Carla and Melissa after completing her scholarship. Shalet has earned many top awards and honors, including most recently “Top Teacher” and “Top Choreographer”.
SORAYAH FALLAH – Teacher / Gymnastics Specialist
Soraya was born in Iran and attended school in Tehran. She began learning gymnastics at the age of seven and since then has been the head coach of many top gymnastics clubs. Sorayah is known for her expertise in teaching preschool and elementary level children. She has coached gymnastics for more than 19 years and has been working with the National Gymnastics Team for more than five years.
LINDA FISHER – Teacher / Gymnastics Coach
Linda is a native of Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from Mount Vernon
High School where she competed with the gymnastics team. She also graduated from George
Mason
University in Fairfax, Virginia with a degree in Accounting. Linda began taking classes at Terry’s School of Dance and Gymnastics at the age of seven and competed with Jack’s gym team from ages 12 to 18. She began assisting Jack at the age of 15. In addition to teaching gymnastics at Terry’s, Linda is also a part-time gymnastics coach at Mount Vernon
High School. Her gym team has won the National District Championship and Linda herself won the Women in Sports - Coach of the Year award.
LAETITA JOLIC – Teacher / Gymnastics Specialist
NICOLE KLETT – Teacher / Choreographer / Contemporary, Lyrical & Jazz Specialist
Nicole Klett began dancing at the age of 3, choreographed her first solo at 14, and her first group piece at 18. With over a decade of work in choreography, Nicole has performed and put routines on stage at Washington, DC's Kennedy
Center, Dance Place, Wolftrap, Historic Lincoln Theatre, and Jack Guidone Theater. She places stress on the story that drives the dance, believing that every movement and moment has significance, whether in the classroom or under the stage lights. Her work has been selected for multiple choreography showcases and has also appeared at the Charlottesville Children’s Dance Festival, DC’s Annual Jazz and Tap Festival, and numerous regional events and competitions. Students of Nicole’s have gone on to prestigious college dance programs, Contradictions Dance Company, and the Mark Morris Dance Company. Nicole is the Director of the Capitol Movement, Inc. Pre-Professional Company based in Washington, DC and currently teaches contemporary, lyrical, and jazz at a number of studios in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
D’JUAN DINZY – Teacher / Choreographer / Jazz & Ballet Specialist
D’Juan was a dancer for Story, the original touring company of FAME the musical, and Makin’ It, An Urban Love Story. D'Juan also worked as a feature dancer in national and international tours for artists such as C & C Music Factory, Crystal Waters, Jomanda and Toni Braxton. He has also appeared in music videos, television, and commercials. For more than 15 years, D’Juan has served as Ballet Master, Choreographer, Rehearsal Director, and Artistic Consultant for several schools and dance companies in the NY-NJ tri-state area, as well as teaching and choreographing dance for award-winning competition teams. Some of the students that D’Juan has had the privilege of teaching and training at the beginning of their illustrious careers are Michelle Wiles, a principal dancer with ABT; Rasta Thomas, an international ballet medal winner, soloist and director of his own contemporary dance company in New York; and Melissa Hough, a soloist with the Boston Ballet.
LINDA BASCOPE – Teacher / Choreographer / Tap & Jazz Specialist
Linda has taught dancing to students of all ages and levels for over thirty years. She trained in the Northern Virginia area, NYC and teacher trained by Dance Masters of America at Kent State University in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Acrobatics. Linda’s dancers have won numerous awards, made high school and college dance teams, performed in Disney World, Universal Studios, Fox channel 5 as well as professional careers teaching and performing on Broadway. In 1989 she was selected to choreograph three routines for twenty of her students to perform with the Bob McGraff Show at the International Children’s Festival. This will be Linda’s 2nd year as part of Terry’s School of Dance & Gymnastics talented staff.
JUSTIN BELLAMY – Teacher / Ballet, Jazz & Gymnastics Specialist
A native of Washington, DC, Justin began dancing at a very young age, in conjunction with his early training as a gymnast. In 2003, he received a scholarship to dance at Ohio State University-Columbus where he studied intensively in classical ballet, modern, and African techniques. He has performed works by notable choreographers, including Robert Moses, Bebe Miller, and Larry Keigwin. To supplement his university studies, he taught on faculty at BalletMet Columbus. He has trained on scholarship with Alonzo King's LINES Ballet in San Francisco, CA, and also in France where he performed works by Christopher Huggins. In 2006, he was handpicked by choreographer Gil Duldulao, and invited to audition for Janet Jackson.
